The "Agricultural Products: Green and Organic Forum, 2012" hosted by the China Association for the Promotion of International Cooperation in Agriculture was held in Beijing. About 150 representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, some countries and regions' offices in China, relevant domestic departments, and agricultural enterprises attended the meeting. This conference is the second large-scale event after the establishment of the new executive council of the China Association for the Promotion of International Cooperation in Agriculture, with the aim of promoting cooperation between China and other countries in the fields of green food and organic agricultural product production, processing and trade, and building a platform for communication and exchange.
Take the path of developing green and organic agricultural products with Chinese characteristics
Zhai Huqu, former president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and president of the China Association for the Promotion of International Cooperation in Agriculture, pointed out in his speech that green and organic are the direction of agricultural development. Many countries around the world, especially developed countries, pay attention to the production and sales of green and organic food. For a long time, China has made unremitting explorations in the development of green and organic agricultural products and achieved great achievements. However, China is still a developing country with uneven development. While developing green and organic food, it also encounters many difficulties. Through strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, China will definitely find a path of developing green and organic agricultural products with Chinese characteristics.
Collaboration between government, civil organizations, and the private sector is a good approach
Percy Misika, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in China, emphasized in his speech that organic agriculture plays an important role in promoting food safety. Throughout the entire food value chain, it uses fewer resources and improves agricultural efficiency. From a global perspective, organic trade is currently developing at a rate of 15-20% per year. China is now one of the fastest-growing countries, and its area of certified organic farmland ranks second in the world. China has some successful practices, such as the contracted farm model, which greatly promotes organic production.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations supports the development of the organic food industry in various regions and countries around the world, while confirming that cooperation between governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector is a good way. Pay attention to organic agriculture. Green food has added value and can help reduce pollution levels in land, water, and other areas. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has a long-term project called the Organic Agriculture Project, which helps member countries improve people's living standards and achieve environmental protection by promoting organic production, processing, certification, and product marketing. To achieve this long-term goal, skills, knowledge, and dissemination should be spread to the fields, and practical tools should be developed to promote the trade of organic products.
Several domestic agricultural enterprises introduced their practical explorations in the production and circulation of green and organic agricultural products by directly connecting crops to e-commerce platforms such as Sichuan Agricultural Network. Wang Meilin, representative of China Green Food Organic Food Beijing Exhibition and Sales Center, introduced that the center carries out multi-channel cooperation and exchanges in technology, demonstration promotion, marketing and other aspects. For example, it cooperates with the China Association of Quality Agricultural Products, mainly in the field of agricultural technology (biological fertilizers and biological insecticides), and develops strategies for planting and breeding bases; Cooperate with the TV network to develop visual agriculture, etc.
Deng Zhenghong, representative of Shinang Network Technology Co., Ltd., believes that the decentralization of farmers and the freedom of the market pose obstacles to regulating the safe production of agricultural products, and the development of ecological bases is an effective way to reform the current situation of agriculture. Meanwhile, the injection of visualization technology has fundamentally regulated the safety of agricultural products. The application of ecological planting and breeding technology, visual technology, and satellite radar technology to the base enables the growth and development of crops and livestock in the base to be clearly presented in computer videos anytime and anywhere. Thirdly, relying on the e-commerce platform, the Internet of Things technology and Internet technology will be connected with the agricultural products of the base, so that the crops can be directly connected to the network platform, bringing timely progress to the output and sales of crops.
Experts from the China Green Food Organic Food Center and the Agricultural Product Quality Standards Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture introduced the development of China's green organic agricultural product industry and the management of agricultural product quality and safety in China. Representatives from the embassies of Israel, Spain, Australia and other countries in China introduced their own practices and experiences in developing organic agricultural products. After the forum, the attending representatives visited the National Modern Facility Agriculture Exhibition Park of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
